Riding a bike in May
Paulina from Class 3c has sent us a nice photo. The poem is of a German girl. Read it and translate it.A bike is just a bike

A bike is just a bike
It can take you for a riding hikeA bike is just a bike
With a motorcycle it is a look alikeA bike is just a bike
When you ride it you feel childlike

But there is something I dislike
It is hard to impress and make a good strike
Two wheels and one seat available for hitchhike
Your charming words will have a declined spike
Therefore it is best to leave the bike for the dikes

Spring, Almost

The sunshine gleams so bright and warm,
The sky is blue and clear.
I run outdoors without a coat,
And spring is almost here.
Then before I know it,
Small clouds have blown together,
Till the sun just can’t get through them,
And again, it’s mitten weather.

Hi! I’m Angelica. I love poetry.

Just read this poem.It’s sweet.

WHEN RING THE BELLS
Lightly fall the Rains
On Heads bowed down in Grace,
And now the Summer Sun
Dries each upturned Face.

The Distant Bells are sparkling
And sweeten Lilac air;
Bright Rainbows flowing with the Wind-
The Congregation stares.

Daisies, Bluebells, joined in Prayer
One Summer’s windswept Day,
Knowing God and all his Blessings,
While with the Wind they Sway.

Springtime
Oh, spring came to my garden
And caught it unaware
Wearing just a few old leaves
And a dejected air.

But when spring left my garden,
Its work so deftly done,
Many, many Daffodils
Were dancing in the sun.

Caves in Mechowo

Posted by: tuniamp on: May 6, 2009

Hi I’m Sandra. Few weeks ego we were in Mechowo. This is a small village situated near Polczyno. We went there because we wanted to see caves which are one and only in Northern Europe. Those caves as you can see on pictures aren’t very big. Walking in caves  takes only few minutes so it can be considered as the shortest underground tourists route in Poland. dscf19561

Our oak Bartek green again!

Posted by: bozenakraj on: May 1, 2009

The oak, Bartek
The oak, Bartek

Hello! I’m Tom. Look at the tree. It’s in our region. And read the note about it.

Bartek is an ancient oakk tree in Poland It grows in Zagnańsk near Kielcee in the Świętokrzyskie Mountainss. Its age, long estimated at up to 1200 years, has recently been established at 625 years, with a corer used to extract a sample for proper counting of the growth ringss. There are three older oaks in Poland, though none so famous as Bartek.

The 30-metre tall Bartek measures 13.5 metres in girth at its base. Its crown spreads about 40 metres. Under the Bartek oak tree, King Casimir IIII is known to have been pictured as holding his court. It is also told that Jan III Sobieskii rested under this tree on his way back from the Battle of Viennaa, and hid a Turkishh sabre, an arquebus and a bottle of wine inside it. The old oak is in decline.

At the 11th International Fair Of Agricultural Techniques in Kielce, March 2005, cuttings of the Bartek Oak were given away

Hello! I,m Joanna. This summer I will go to the Tatras, in the south of Poland. I’m so happy!

Alps-like Tatra Mountains, or the Tatras (Polish Tatry), is the highest range of the Carpathian Mountains and lie along Poland’s border with Slovakia. Two hour’s drive from Krakow one finds stunning views and pristine nature as well as the best skiing in winter and hiking, rock climbing, cave exploration, cycling, paragliding, etc. through the rest of the year. As tourism has been the area’s main business for over a century, visitors are thoroughly catered to. Annually some three million of them turn up in the Polish alps, mostly getting along well with wildlife preservation which is paramount seeing that twin national parks cover the whole of the Tatras both sides of the national border. Will you go to the Tatras, they are worth visiting.

Greetings from Daleszyce! Joanna

Constitution of the 3rd of May by J. Matejko

Hi! I’m Bartek I love history. And today you must know something about Polish history. Look! Poland’s Four Year Sejm (parliament), in power 1788–92, introduces a new constitution, converting Poland’s long-established electoral monarchy into a hereditary monarchy, giving executive power to the king and a council of state, and placing legislative power in the hands of a two-chamber Sejm. Russia opposes the changes, and promotes agitation in Poland in defence of the old constitution. The constitution was the best of Europe then and very democratic.

Hi! I’m Paul. This poem is great, I think. Look, spring is here and there. Can you see it?

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

A visit to the Nazi camp

Posted by: bozenakraj on: April 26, 2009

At the beginning of April all the students from the third classes went to Oswiecim to commemorate those who died there and remember what happened there. The visit was a serious one. No smiles, no joy just attention focused on what was to be seen there. The day was sunny, warm, it smelled spring
But what they saw was not easy to understand and get aware. Father Maksymilian Kolbe, a Polish monk, lived in one of the cells. He gave his life to protect a father of a family, who is still alive.

So the little witch seems to be a symbol of mysterious past, yet this witch is just a little funny wooden doll who watches tourists not to leave litter in the mountains. Come to Baltow

Bałtów 150 million years ago. A warm sea, inhabited by corals, brachiopods, bivalves, snails, sea urchins and ammonites, existed at the site of Bałtów during the Jurassic. Fossils discovered in Wólka Bałtowska enable us to suppose that nearby there was a land similar to the present-day coast of Florida, with dinosaurs wandering across white carbonate beaches, leaving their footprints. The white rocks surrounding Bałtów are a remnant of this sea. Numerous fossils, mainly stenothermal corals, can be found there.

“A White Pilgrim” by Karolina, Daleszyce

Posted by: bozenakraj on: April 8, 2009

A white pilgrim

A white pilgrim

It’s four years since our John Paul II left for Heaven. Karolina from Class IId has written a poem. He travelled the world like a white snowflake in winter and green little leaf in summer while directed by a strong wind of need. His love of us was strong and very tender; in tears and laughter. Surrounded by children in need, suffering from illnesses, he embraced them with his helping hand. It was him who was smiling comfortingly, sympathizing with us. But he has gone and will never be back among us. I have always felt his presence. He has always been with me. His teaching seems to be like light, hope and life – the earthly garden in which I do want to live.

Henryk Sienkiewicz - a novelist

Henryk Sienkiewicz, who once got the Noble Prize lived at Oblegorek. The little palace and the ground around was given to him by the grateful readers and the nation. A Polish novelist, a storyteller, and the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1905. Henry Sienkiewicz wrote “Quo Vadis?”, “The Trilogy”? (1896). His strongly Catholic worldview deeply marked his writing. Sienkiewicz’s works have been published in 50 languages.

“And Peter understood that neither Caesar nor all his legions could overcome the living truth, — that they could not overwhelm it with tears or blood, and that now its victory was beginning. He understood with equal force why the Lord had turned him back on the road. That city of pride, crime, wickedness, and power was beginning to be His city, and the double capital, from which would flow out upon the world government of souls and bodies.” (from Quo Vadis?)

The monastery

Hi! I’m Eva. This is the Holy Cross monastery. And Lysa Gora (also called Lysiec or Swiety Krzyz) was a site of a pagan cult in Roman and early medieval times. After the Baptism of Poland, a church and a monastery were built here by the monks of the Benedictine order from Hungary, in all probability settled here by King Boleslaw the Wry-mouthed in the l2th century.

The Holy Cross Mountains

Posted by: bozenakraj on: March 30, 2009

Hello! I’m Iza. Iwould like to tell you about the Świętokrzyskie Mountains (Holy Cross Mountain which are a mountain range in central Poland, in the vicinity of the city of Kielce. In most part the chain consists of a number of separate ranges, the highest of which is Łysogóry. The two highest peaks are Łysica at 612 meters (2008 ft) and Łysa Góra at 593 meters (1946 ft). Together with the Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska the mountains form a region called the Lesser Poland Upland (Wyżyna Małopolska). Their area is 1684 km² (650 mi²). Approximate location is 50°53′N 20°55′E / 50.883°N 20.917°E / 50.883; 20.917. The Świętokrzyskie Mountains are one of the oldest mountain ranges in Europe. They were formed during the Caledonian orogeny of the Silurian period and then rejuvenated in the Hercynian orogeny of the Upper Carboniferous period. From the early Middle Ages the mountains were a place of extensive copper and iron mining. Later they were also a significant site of limestone and red sandstone extraction. At present, the center part of the mountains contains the Świętokrzyski National Park. The name, Holy Cross Mountains, refers to a Christian relic from a nearby Benedictine monastery on Łysa Góra, said to be a small piece of wood from the Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified.

tarraco

Tarragona is a city placed in the south of Catalonia. In Roman times it was the Spain main city. It’s name was Tarraco. In the photo you can see the Roman water aqueduct. Between -200 BC to +400 AC, pending 600 years, Spain was part of a Roman Empire. So Badalona, Barcelona and Tarragona serve so many Roman buildings. Tarragona is human patrimony from UNESCO.

The mountain of Montserrat is very different to the other mountains  because of their form. In Montserrat mountains there is the big abbey of Saint Mary. All Catalan people is devote to the virgin of Montserrat. Like the Cestokowa virgin in Poland she is black because she was in the church for centuries and the smoke of the candles made herself black face.

We are in 2009 and it is the year of Charles Darwin. We would like to dedicate this photo to him. February 12th, he was born 200 years ago.
Darwin discovered the theory of evolution. This is a good theory OK for a
cells and primats. In USA some people believes that the humans were created and another that we came from primats. So they published this picture with Darwin’s face on the body of a monkey.  We are studying Darwin’s theory at class.

fire-and-earthquake-by-gina-bazaroglou2

Last Friday all the High School kids saw a demonstration about how we can protect ourselves in case of fire and earthquake. Two fire fighters talked to us about it for one hour.

That was a really interesting demonstration and I really liked it. All the children asked many questions about fire or earthquake.

That was an excellent experience for me and all my classmates and I really enjoyed it!!!!!

Carnival 2009

In my country we have a festival that is so special and we call it ‘Carnival’. We celebrate it at the end of February until the beginning of March.

All people choose one group with beautiful costumes and when the time comes young people and children dance in the streets. Some people drink a lot and do bad things and that’s very sad!

Also after Carnival we have a nice day, Clean Monday, when we fast, eg: we don’t eat meat, cheese or drink milk and we fly kites. Some people have a competition for the most beautiful kite.

That’s the best festival in my country. Carnival is exciting!!!!!!

The Carnival of Patra is beautiful. I join the carnival with my mum, brother, father, aunt, uncle and cousin. My cousin and I buy sprays and confetti. My brother wears a captain’s costume. My cousin and I wear baker’s costumes and we join the carnival festival in a group together with other children.

Carnival is fun. In the end my dad and my uncle make chocolates. I love chocolates! On Sunday 22 February it is the carnival for children and on Sunday 1 March it is the Carnival for older men and women. On Sunday 1 March, too at night we burn the Carnival King. The Carnival King is very very big.

Every year on the Thursday one and a half weeks before Carnival Sunday and Clean Monday we celebrate “Barbeque Day”. On this day we eat only meat on barbeque, we drink, sing, dance, and we are very happy. In this way we mark the beginning of lent for Easter which lasts for about 50 days. We start fasting meat from the Friday after Barbeque Day and then we fast all dairy products (milk, cheese, eggs, butter, etc) on the Sunday before Carnival Sunday until on Clean Monday when the Easter fast starts. On Clean Monday we eat only bread, olives, legumes, and seafood. We have very big traditional celebrations on Clean Monday, too, and of course we have NO SCHOOL!!!!

On Barbeque Day in Patra we have a lot of celebrations with traditional music and dances and traditional theatre in the streets and everywhere. People dress up in fancy and funny costumes and play jokes, sing and dance all over the city! In the pictures above you can see what happened in Patra this Barbeque Day which was last Thursday, 19/02/2009.

What about you? Do you have any celebrations like that in your country or in your city?

This abbey is really wonderful. There is a beautiful cloister, (photo) and a garden with a lot of flowers.
Before the abbey was built it was a roman farmhouse. Now we can see a Gothic monastery.
We hope you like our little history of San Jeronimo de la Murtra because this monastery is very important for us.

Hi, I’m Ferran Arqué from 6th B class in Badalona. I want to talk about our power light central. These are Sant Adria’s termic electric central. Sant Adrià is a little city that is next to Badalona and Barcelona. Near the beach these towers were built in 70’s. The towers are emitting now much smoke and pollute and for a very long time. But now they will stop working. No more smoke. The autorities wanted to shut down them. But there is a lot of people who did not want it. So there was a referemdum about what to do with the towers. All Sant Adria’s residents vote to conserve the towers. Now they are the new symbol of the city. Bye, Ferran.

This hospital is located in one beautiful hill. The Hill is called of Witches hill. It is a good name for a hospital, isn’t it? In these hills there are many animals, and a lot of birds.  The landscape is beautiful too. My mother works in this hospital.

There are no trees in our river because the toxic waste, plastic bags and other problems. Now there is a plan to purify the Besos river water. Pau and Alexis from 6A class. Badalona

Hello, I’m Ferran. I want to talk about our Badalona’s river. Here is the river Besòs. The river Besòs makes the natural border between Badalona city (on the left) and Sant Adrià city (on the right). This river is not very long but is not too bad. On the right side of the river we can see the towers of San Adrián termic electric central. On the left side there is a walking path that also has a bike lane. Nearly all the route of the river there is also a lot of grass gardens. The Besos river is not a big river, because here it doesn’t rain a lot. Ferran Arqué, 6A class, Badalona.

Badalona’s old town streets

Dalt la Vila, (Above the village) is the old town of Badalona. It was the medieval town of Badalona. The medieval town was build over the Roman city. The streets are short and narrow. The houses are little, white, and very old. The old village of Badalona was built on the top of a little mountain. From there you can see the sea and the ships. You can also see if the enemies came from the sea. In the top of the old town there is the church of Santa Maria. The street that you see in the picture is the coast street. When it rains a lot the water goes to the sea. We like walking on these old streets without cars and traffic.

Hello everyone!
Since now I haven’t put any photo, I will do it today!
In this picture we can see the beautiful Badalona’s harbour. If you do not know the sea, because you haven’t got a sea, I think it is a pity because it is one of the most beautiful things in the world. At least this is what I think. But also, some of you are really fortunate to be able to go skiing near your school. Many students of my class, they also would like to be able to go skiing or snowboarding. But it’s not possible. We can’t go to our school skiing. :-)
It’s nice to go to beach in Badalona, and it’s OK to see it and enjoy it here, in Badalona. But also it’s OK living there, where is snowing all time and where snows very often.
Well, I must leave you!
Goodbye my friends! ;)

Kielce and the Cracow Bishops’ Palace

Posted by: bozenakraj on: February 8, 2009

There are a lot of tourists attractions, for example: Palace of Cracow Bishops: summer residence of Bishops of Cracow, built in early baroque style. The Palace of Cracow Bishops constructed on Bishop Jakub Zadzik’s initiative in the years 1637 – 1641 is a brilliant and valuable example of Polish residences from the Waza epoch. In the palace it’s original shape, elevation decorations and it’s original interior decor. Since 1971 it has been a branch of the National Museum. In it’s rooms on the ground floor it houses a gallery of Polish painting, presenting among others valuable paintings of our best painters from the period of the 17th to the 20th century:  Malczewski, Wyspiaski,  Kossak,  Gierymski,  Witkiewicz. The gallery ranked sixth in the country. On the representative first floor you can admire valuable 17th and 18th-century paintings, furniture, tapestry and other arts, creating the atmosphere characteristic of a contemporary Magnate house. In the rooms there are unique, richly polychromed beam-framed floors, frescos, marble fireplaces and portals.

Castellers: a Catalan tradition

Posted by: joanmolar on: February 6, 2009

We hope that video answer your questions. A Castle needs a lot of people to be build. Not only people in the tower, also in the base.

Castellers is an ancient tradition in Catalonia that consists in building human castles. This one is from “Castellers de Vilafranca” and is currently the largest one ever made, with a height of ten people! (Notice the ones at top are children, like you). No ropes, no helmets, no nothing, just the traditional suit and guts! Some think it’s scary freakish to do this just for fun, but the truth is in more than a century doing this things only a few had severe injuries.

Badalona’s Arms

Good morning!
We are Mar,
Maria, and Claudia, three students from 6th B.
Today we want to explain you the Badalona’s arms and teach you about our shield.
The yellow and red bars, are the flag of Catalonia. (Catalonia is an autonomous country community of Spain).
Waves of light blue and dark blue represents the sea, because as you have seen from the photos we have put in this blog, we have a very large beach. (This is only a wonderful legend. The waves are from the feudal family arms of Badalona).
The crown that is above all, is a king’s crown. You know that Spain is a kingdom.
As you can see, there are two branches with leaves and fruit. The right is an oak tree, which symbolizes strength and power, and the left are olive branches, symbolizing peace and science.
Well, you know how the shield of Badalona is, we hope you enjoy!
Bye! See you soon! ♥

Castellers, the human towers

Hello! I’m Victor Pazos Malagón.
The “castellers” (castles) are a really popular Catalonia’s tradition. In all Catalonia there are a lot of Castellers teams. They make a very big human tower. Here, in Badalona, we have one team of Castellers. They are called “Xiquets de Badalona”. (Badalona’s boys). They make these towers in front of the city hall every festival or celebration. Catalan people like very much this. They are very popular.

Hello I am Tania de Castro Sánchez
I want to comment a little bit about the football club Badalona. The FC. Badalona field is a grass field.
It’s very large. I’m a Badalona FC player.
I played on this team for six years.
I play as a frontal and I have made 23 goals.
In this case I’m a “pichixi”. The best player.
The T-shirt we wear is blue and white and in the middle of the shirt there is the coat of arms of FC Badalona. People calls me “pichichi”.

In my town there aren’t any historical sites but the area is very beautiful.

The sea is clear and blue, the beaches are clear, too. Can you see the big boat in the background?  These are really very big ferries that go from Patra to Italy.

Hello, we are the Paula and Maria from 6B Badalona.
In Badalona we also have a museum but is quite smaller. You can see it in the photo. It’s the big building in the end of the photo. In our museum, there are some Roman objects. Also there are several exhibitions every year, about all items. Sometimes we are going to take a trip to the Museum. Once a year it celebrates a kind of event where everything is on the Romans clothes. People made like an army parade but dressed has the Romans. We do this to celebrate Romans founded Badalona in III century before Christ. (Badalona has more than 2225 history years).

Patra is found north of the Peloponnese, in the Prefecture of Achaia.

In Patra there are many kinds of shops, bakeries, factories, workshops, flower shops, bookshops, fruit and vegetable stores, butchers’, cleaners’.

In Patra there are historical sights. The theatre, the museum , the school of music.

Patras has touristic attractions such as the port, the castle, and the fortress.
It is not a big industrial city but there are some factories which make icecream and refreshments.
I like the weather in Patra. In summer it is sunny and hot, in winter it rains a lot, and in autumn it is windy. It is also very beautiful in spring when all the flowers bloom.

Hello! We are Paula and Judit from 6èA grade of the school Salvador Espriu in Badalona. In the photo you can see the Mar Street. This street goes to the sea and to the Rambla’s avenue. It is the main  street of Badalona. Here you can buy everything you want: clothes, shoes….. whatever you need.
Also you can eat in the bars and restaurants that there are.
At Christmas, and on holidays, or festivals there are some typical stalls where people make and sale small jewel pieces. You can buy in it: necklaces, earrings, rings….
This street is quite known and it is also a bit narrow.
In this street we celebrate a big popular race on May 11th.

gegants

HELLO!
This picture is about a tradition of Catalunya.
It’s called the giants. The giants are made with wood and they wear a traditional suit. Inside every giant there is a man. This man goes under the giant, and it makes it walk and dance. Giants usually go on a town tour, or a district tour in festivals or holidays. Children and some people sometimes are afraid about giants, because they are very tall, that¡s why they are called giants.
We hope you upload some photo about traditions from your city.

Hello!. I’m Pau from 6thA class. I want to show you Badalona’s port. The port of Badalona is new. It is a fishing port and, also, for yatchs boats. It is really nice to go walking o riding bike. To enter in the harbour by car you have to pay some money. There are also some ships that are in exposition for people or to enter and learn about the boats.

Good morning!

Here’s a photo of  our harbour. .:·D

It’s not very big but as you can see it’s very nice, and there are many ships.

In Spain there are many ports, but this is ours and we are very proud!:·)

Maybe it is not the best in the world, but it is enough for us.:·D

And we like it so much. We know that many countries do not have sea and we believe that we are very lucky to have it :·)

Paralia is in the centre of the municipality of Paralia, which is in the west of Patra.

Other areas in the municipality are Roitika and Mindilogli. Paralia is a seaside area, as its name suggests and it is 200 metres above the sea level. There are a few historical sights worth visiting in Paralia. One of them is the church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, a wonderful old church.

Another are the neoclassical homes of the nobles with rare architecture. These were the holiday homes of some rich people of the early 20th century. Many parties were organised in these homes and the area was very lively then.

In Paralia there were also two famous night clubs “Parisiana” (lady from Paris) and “Lido”. Many people from all over Greece used to come here with their friends to enjoy themselves.

Paralia is also famous for its sunset, a unique natural phenomenon because of the wonderful red colour and the shapes that the sky gets when the sun sets. Sunset in Paralia is really idylic and will leave you ecstatic.

The local economy is mainly rural with lots of biological cultivations. Olives, raisin and lots of varieties of grapes are produced here. That is why some very good wine is made here. So, you can enjoy the mediterranean healthy diet during your holidays here.

The weather is usually sunny but sometimes it rains.

There are many shops such as restaurants, chemist’s, flower shops, department store, fishmongers, confectioner’s, dry cleaner’s and a bookshop.

We like it very much because it has got many shops and all our friends are here.

How are you? I want to tell you about my town. It is called Paralia. “Paralia” means “beach” in Greek and my town is called so because it is on the beach. It is not in the city of Patra but it is very close.

We haven’t got a lot of shops in our town but we have all we need. So, there are two kiosks, a supermarket, a mini market, two pharmacies, two english private schools. There is also a hairdresser’s.

There aren’t any historical attractions but there are two courts, one for football and one for basketball.

We also have a small hospital It is called I.K.A. (Institute of Public Insurance).

In the local museum there are evidences that this place was settled since Stone Age and the first written record comes from 1290.

Devil’s burning

Hello! We are Anna Sevilla and Laura. We are girls from 6A class. We want to show you a tradicional holiday and festival from Badalona. Every May, 11th, on the Badalona’s beach we burn a paper devil. This is a very traditional family festival. We done it because in older times we think that to do this is very good to protect against bad things like diseases. Every year the devil is different. Maybe a policeman, a doctor, a thief, an animal… Then there is a big firework festival with different colours.

Hello, my name is Soufian. I want to tell you that this picture is about the Badalona’s devil party. This festival is one of May events in Badalona. It consists in burning a paper demon. Some children also do little demonds at home and at school and then put their little demons with the big devil to burn them together.
When devils are burning there is a big firecracker festival.

Hi, my name is Pau and I’m from 6A class. I will explain you what are “Bufons del Foc”, (Fire Devils). The fire buffoons are a gang of young people who plays with fire. We are from Badalona. We go to the town’s holidays and cities to make our fire show, which is called correfoc. We wear a special clothing that is against fire. So we can’t burn ourselves. We use a lot of firecracker. We enjoy fire and little bombs. The fircrakers are lead to the end of the a large stick that we call “maza”. In Badalona there are many groups of fire players. All groups have a logo. We are like devils. “Correfoc is a large Catalan tradition.

Answer one winter question or more!

Posted by: bozenakraj on: December 4, 2008

Badalona, we know your winter isn’t white.

So, you can’t answer a few questions.

What about Paralia in Greece? Do you have snow in winter?

Do you prefer winter or summer? Why?

What are your favourite winter activities?

Can you tell me about the time you went skiing or skating?

What do you usually wear in winter?

When do your winter holidays usually start and end?

Can you think of three holidays in winter?

Do you know any Christmas poems?

Posted by: bozenakraj on: December 1, 2008

Or can you try and write one like Angelica from Class II d. It was her first one. Maybe you are gifted. Ask your teacher to translate it into English, which is not very easy! Hope to hear from you soon! Greetings from green Daleszyce! Snow has disappeared unfortunately."Winter" taken by Kinga from Class Ia

Dear Agata, Kinga, Jim, Nadia, Alexandra, Dennis, George, Joanna and Emma! Congratulations!!!  Thanks to you, we know what a complete menu for a snowman must include: snow cornaflakes (when it snows), water (when it rains), but at Christmas time : milk and joghurt for breakfast, vanilla ice-cream and cream cake for dessert, and some sour cream for supper. I think Dennis has proposed something more, but his secret code seems difficult.

I want to thank our Greek students from Paralia, Patra for so many interesting answers!!! As winners ( the biggest number of good answers) you can prepare another winter puzzle for this week, can’t you?

Pupils from 5 – 9 classes make teams of 10 runners. One lap is 250m long. Girls and boys race together. In our team there were six boys and four girls.  This year the weather wasn´t very nice, it was quite cold but the atmosphere was excellent. The race was exciting.  We won again.

“Winter” by Angelica from Class IId

Posted by: bozenakraj on: November 29, 2008

Winter, snow and cold, snowy emptiness. Snowflakes falling down in the darkness of a winter night. Street lamps like the Bethlehem star, show the right way to the lost people.

White houses, trees and streets. Window glass covered with frosty flowers. A hot fire-place, and the Christmas tree which smells like a green forest. Great atmosphere of melancholy and peace.

Silence. People in a rush. No time to look for the beauty of the winter world. Day by day, no time for ourselves. It’s worth waiting for a minute to look round, It’s worth meeting the others, and being together in this white, cold winter time.

But this wonderfully warm Christmas time is to come. Keep it for the whole year!

Greetings from Class Ic – Daleszyce

Posted by: bozenakraj on: November 28, 2008

This is the last week of November. We are happy that December is the first month of winter and that Christmas will come soon. Last Wednesday our parents came to school to meet our teachers and check how good we are. We must say that some problems have appeared and our marks might be better. So, we will do our best to be good students and good friends for one another. Especially, before Santa Clause comes. In Poland He comes on the 6th of December. We are waiting!!!

We have visited Sant Jeroni abbey

Posted by: joanmolar on: November 26, 2008

Near Badalona there is an old gotic abbey called Saint Jeronimus of the Murtra. We went to visit it last October. Now we have done a video. We put it here. You can also see something about our landscape. Notice that we don’t have many trees in it. Here it doesn’t rain a lot and we don’t have big trees, only little ones.

Class Ic and winter

Posted by: bozenakraj on: November 24, 2008

It’s white – there is a lot of snow everywhere.

Diana from Class Ic is learning a nice poem by Melville Cane.

The snow fell gently all the night.

It made a blanket soft and white.

It covered houses, flowers and ground.

But did not make a single sound.

We love winter. And you? And do you like the poem?

We like singing. Some of us sing in this group, some like solo singing and some love playing the instruments as well. Someone said that “Music is the greatest communication in the world. Even if people don’t understand the language that you are singing in, they still know music when they hear it.” Do you agree?

Our patron – John Paul II

Posted by: bozenakraj on: November 19, 2008

He was the Holy Father, an important person for many people in the world. We have his corner at school where you can find even some things which belonged to him. There are pictures, a marble board with his face, and other decorations which make the place special. As a school, we have our Patron’s Day on 16 October every year. Then we have the holy Mass and some performances connected with the day. What about your patrons?

Our school is quite big. It is blue and yellow. We like it. We have about 520 pupils. There are 24 classrooms, 2 computer rooms, 1 big and 1 small gym. We can have lunch at the school canteen or buy some snack at the small buffet.  Behind the school there is a playground and a swimming pool. At the same building there is a secondary school (it is on the second floor).

You can see in the photo the school youngest children: P3 grade. They are only 3 years old
We eat chocolate, daintiness, and some cookies called “ensiamades”.
We are celebrating it at the central courtyard of the school, so we were very happy and very good.
This day we only played games and we did not class !!!!!!
Towards the festivals end, the teachers gave us a school backpack. It’s orange with a dragon. Then we leave the school.

Hi!. We are the children of College Salvador Espriu from Badalona.
You show you a child labor from the third class of primary, (8 years old) for the halloween day.
Although we have no custom of celebrating halloween, but we do it at English class. We always welcome the “Castañera” (autum) with a party at which we eat nuts and moniatos.
We would like that you tell us what you did on the day of Halloween.

This is one of the three rooms of computers we have in school. This room is called ARGO. The others are named CLIC and SUN. There are fifteen good computers in each room. We use it five times a week: language, maths, sciences, geography… There are few hours that you can see this room alone but the most times it’s not alone.

This is our front sandy courtyard of the school. We have a lot of trees at the entrance
Also we have got some very large lianas.
This is the court we use to play football or even to play with the sand or play to the fact and hide or to kill.
We also have three more courtyards with a garden to plant many things like: carrots, potatoes, onions, lettuce….
Also this playground is used to do sea sickness with a tennis ball. We have got too two goals of soccer and six baskets to play basketball, four are small and two larger.
The sandy courtyard is for the children of p3 to p5, 3 to 5 years old.
We hope we enjoy our school.
